French dragoons during the Napoleonic wars wore green coats with distinctive facing colours on different parts of it. The 1st regiment had scarlet facing colour on collar, lapels, cuffs, cuff flaps and turnbacks.
Scarlet piping was applied on the pockets and shoulder straps. The 1st regiment had vertical pocket which were used to differentiate it from the 4th regiment which had the same facing colour arrangement.
Trumpets used reversed colour coats being scarlet the base colour and green used on collar, lapels, cuffs, cuff flaps and turnbacks.
