The 4th line regiment was one of the twenty units selected in 1806 to wear the new white uniforms on a trial basis. Officers were reluctant to wore them as it was a symbol of the monarchical institutions abolished by the 1789 revolution.
Centre company drummers apparently kept the blue uniforms during that period which had a particular grass green facing colour. The pockets were vertical and piped in red. Yellow wool trim was used on collar, lapels, cuffs, turnbacks and back buttons. The swallow nests were replaced by green epaulettes with red crescents. |
